Meerkat has a pet peeve. Something that gets up my skinny, delicate , twitching nose ,is the use of the word ‘the’ in front of  Hawkes Bay .

 It is often heard when advertisements play on the radio and the most aggravating use is on TV when people refer to our fine region.

I never hear ‘the Wellington’,'the Auckland’ ,or ‘the Dunedin’.

Please help correct this abuse and point it out whever you hear it used.
