CHB Mayoralty
Great competition for the Mayoralty in Central Hawkes Bay this election.Latest move comes from Waipawa farmer Peter Butler who has been stirred from his pastures by a 9 per cent rate increase. Meerkat believes this issue is enough for Mr Butler to swing his campaign on and theres nothing like a big rate increase to raise the hackles.
Other candidates for Mayor include sitting Councillors Mark Williams and David Tennent .Mr Tennent does not support amalgamation if it rears it head again and feels it is necessary to raise rates to achieve council viability.
