Remmerswal a Starter

Havelock North’s Liz Remmerswal is to stand for the Regional Council Hastings seat.Liz has been an active campaigner for a number of environmental issues and would like to be in a decision making position. Fighting for Cape Kidnappers was a steep learning curve for Liz and the win through the environment court has spurred her on to bigger things.Hawkes Bay has many issues she would like to become involved with and Baywatch will help promote Liz for the job.

Making Waves

A group of enthusiastic environmentalists have conceived the idea of Making Waves.Making Waves is going to try and do just that by holding meetings and seeking candidates to endorse by way of a pledge. The group stems out of Baywatch which evolved after the Ocean Beach plan became public. Those involved with saving Cape Kidnappers as well as a few new faces, are putting much effort into this group and hope to generate some genuine interest in this years election.

More Candidates

Sitting councillor Ewan McGregor who managed to get on the HB Regional Council last election as one of only three who stood, is up for another round. Ewan is keen on the RC keeping its focus and alludes to the China sister connection as being somewhat out of sync with councils functions. He is also a fan of a Unitary Authority which is always a conflict to some who cannot understand why people stand for a council they want to seek the demise of.

As reported by Meerkat in an earlier post Eileen von Dadelson is also seeking another term.Rumours are that it hasn’t been a happy time as chair with a diverse group but there must be something to keep Eileen coming back for more.
