Beach Highway

Recent publicity covering tragic accidents on some of New Zealands beaches should make lawmakers sit up and contemplate the silly situation we have regarding vehicles on beaches and speed limits that are too high and impossible to police.
In recent years we have seen the four wheel drive vehicle being used in a way never contemplated at the time legislation was passed and the growth in use of quad bikes  on beaches has been astronomical.
It was good to use a bike to access fishing spots with a quiet toddle along the shore. Now the game has changed. The idiots have arrived and the beach is fair game to recreate ride and ruin. Nothing and nobody is safe anymore.
The new generation are not worried about the fragile coastal environment or the relaxing atmosphere it is for some.
It is time to have a look at speed limits and vehicle access to beaches  and save our wonderful playground for just that…….playing.

Climate Change

The emotional claptrap that keeps eminating from the climate change bovverboy scientists is going to give us another frightening year of wondering if every downpour of rain is going to be a deluge or if every report of ice melting is going to bring coastal flooding.
Sanity has gone out the back door and I can’t believe the extent and the breadth of brainwashing that has enveloped the world even.
Meerkat ,this year ,takes a stand and is going to take a rational, considered view.Meerkat is determined not to get absorbed and converted by  the bureaucratic wallaghs that live in noddy land with their idealistic solutions to a non existent problem.
Meerkat is not going to be ‘fashionable’.

Tuki tuki Dribble

The local leftys have opened the year trying to stir the mud in the Tuki tuki river. It is unfortunate the charge is being led by those who have only been present in the area for a minute and see monsters emerging from the willows.
The Central HB Council has had it within its power to make major changes to prevent the ongoing pollution of the Tuki, especially when the discharge consents came up for renewal. They chose to take the easy way out and now we have a situation where the new migrants are blaming the HBRC for the problem.
Get a life.Mr Gilbertson himself as Mayor of CHB District Council did nothing about this issue. He is supported in his campaign to nail a seat on the Regional Council and now tries to blame them for the situation.Lets have a report he says.
Well Mr ex Mayor why did you not do your job when you had the opportunity?
This is an extraordinary situation and it is appalling  that the HBRC is now the target.
There are many more facts about the Tuki that will need to come out now to calm the waters.

Happy New Year

Even Meerkats behave like public servants.Disappear for three weeks over xmas as though the world stops for them.
It seems I have been doubly busy over this period trying to make a living and have observed many  a hard worker clocking up the hours to make some extra for summer.Public servants wouldn’t have a clue how many out there are screwed to the limit to make ends meet.
If we let Labour get back in this year may be we can all become civil servants.Who worrys about how money is generated .It all comes from the Government ….right?
Happy New year all the same and it will be a year to look forward to in some ways with the election as a focal point. What will be the outcome of another MMP debacle? National still needs to wake up and listen rather than believing it will win the election.Labour is more likely to lose and National stuff it up in a short time if it is not careful.
The Greens need to shed their connection with social engineering .The loonys are ruining what promised to be a positive move for the environmental future.
Off we go on a year that needs to be better than 2007 and a year that at present is painting a negative picture with high oil prices and high interest rates.
Hold on to your hats.
