New Approach to Rubbish

There are too many people out there who have no problems rubbishing our country.
When city dwellers have a rubbish collection why is there so much rubbish dumped by our roadsides and river banks.

The decent approach where the Regional Council placed rubbish bins at river entrances ,was an invitation to place rubbish for the council(ratepayer ) to remove. The bins at the Pakowhai/ Ngaruroro entrance are stacked up with piles of rubbish every week. It was just a convenient way to get rid of ones rubbish without going to the tip.

A new policy of you take it ,you take it away will be watched with interest. It’s certainly worth a shot though .

A bit of pride in the country may help as well.

Prime Programme

The screening of the other side of the global warming debate was welcomed on Prime TV last night. The programme underlined how there is so much information out there and we human beings are  spending  so much time and money  trying to understand what is happening .Scientists are split so who is right.?

The Panel Discussion

The most credibility had to go to the scientist who explained various facets of climate in an easy to understand way and he kept extremely calm given the circumstances. There was a believable air about him whereas the NIWA scientist and his ipcc supporting colleague  were very defensive  and appeared  unable to listen to alternative arguments. The other chipping agitator  was a plain  nuisance .
Leighton Smith didn’t have the scientific backup but then that is where most people are sitting.

Can’t help but think a common sense understanding and thinking carefully around all the issues being debated brings one to the conclusion that man is not the enemy in all of this and what lies ahead if governments make stupid political  moves on  climate change is  frightening indeed.
Worst of all,  is the  part we in New Zealand play in the big picture.  We are contributing nothing. We are a  blip  in the world and our emmissions are   pitiful. We are being taken for a ride and are making a mistake trying to lead the world on this one.
