Park Meeting a Sham

There can only be one reason why questions about the sports park are required to be submitted days before the public meeting.
So the council can respond with the best spin and fob off ratepayers who want to know just what is going on.

Last nights meeting was again a joke with no answers and no clarification about funding for the RSP.

Even Sam Kelts million has been shifted to stage three. This doesn’t stack up with the original intention.

The more mirrors used the more mirrors needed.

New Councillor Knows it All

First term Hastings councillor Wilson thinks she knows it all. She has found solace in the RMA and thinks it is cool to quote parts of the Act to justify her council making appalling decisions.Trouble is she does not understand the Act as yet.

It is a little like when new MP’s were told to breathe through their nose for the first term.Learn what it is all about and be careful.

Cr Anne Wilson has forgotten one major part of her anatomy—–ears. She is their to represent ratepayers not to preach to them.
It is time she shut up and opened her ears. Time to learn not to dictate.

Such a shame.

Napier CC and Sports Park

From the very clear comments made on radio by Cr Dalton the Napier City Council has no desire at all to contribute funds to the proposed sports park.

The point was well made that Hastings were not prepared to help fund the McLean Park upgrade which is truly a regional facility.
So why expect Napier residents to contibute to a Hastings facility. And it is a Hastings facility. It is not a regional facility and the council should not tout it to be as such.

Napier is in a strong position financially as is the Regional Council.

Hastings has made bad decisions and is in the poo.

Face up to it for a start

HB Inc Not Needed

After years of pouring money in to Hawkes Bay Inc and its predecesser organisations it must be time to pull the plug on this money gobbling exercise instaed of re-inventing every few years.

The latest move is a manouvre that is placing funds in a position where they will be used to fund wishlists of elected wannabes and office holders with cunning plans.

At a time when tourism is going to struggle and our customary primary industries are desperately needed it would be good to see common sense and dump this organisation forthwith.

The Chamber of Commerce has announced the formation of a committee of non elected and non political persons to lobby in a constructive way for the Bay.

This is a better option than letting local government suck out more money from ratepayers for no return.

Super City and Politics

The reaction from the Auckland Mayors collective tonight  gives the impression that Rodney is not going to give in to stupid electioneering excess and he has won his MMP way with National to turn Auckland inside out .

The Mayors have caved in already and Auckland will be a cotcase before too long.

It is such a shame that Hide and Douglas will get their way and wag the dog on this one.

So much at stake.

Bob Harvey and friends have been done without a fight.

Kyoto

What a joke.

The country is in credit. $250m.
Who is going to pay this money.
No one.
It is disconcerting to see the Minister , one Nick smith , and his reaction to this stupid agreement.

It’s time Mr Key moved him on down the corridor.

Housing Officer for Regional Council

Just what is going on in that leaky building?

So the Regional Council is stepping into the Governments area by trying to tackle the home heating/insulation please subsidise us and expand another department make more work grow the council and tackle the impossible with more staff.

This is a bad move by the council.there is no need for a housing officer and this is typical of what happens to central government.Don’t go there.
This is definately an area for central government to deal with and should be canned immediately.

Get those submissions in!!!!!

Ward System

Napier councillors are getting their knickers in a twist over the system for electing councillors for Napier and as of late the new proposed super city Auckland.

Wards or at large ,that is the question

Having a mix of wards and at large options  for electing councillors is confusing for ratepayers and inconsistent.
The only choice is one or the other.
Napier is a shambles now and should choose one or the other for the next election.

Auckland……..well thats another story.Same sentiments and same solution but this is where it possible to see that politicians such as Rodney Hide do not understand local government and are relying on superficial kneejerk reactions to make major changes and thus mistakes when it comes to changing local government.

Good to see some arguing coming from Napier City though.

Amalgamation Pitch

No sooner has the decision ruin Aucklands local government been announced and we have the Mayor of Hastings coming out with the unitary idea for HB.

This has been discussed at length before and would be a bad move for the Bay.

When it is noted the Hastings District debt is climbing to near $100m this pitch can be seen clearly for what it is.

Hastings is saying ‘we have dug ourselves a big hole and we want the regional Councils money to get us out.

The answer is simple.

Learn to manage your affairs in a prudent fashion and don’t eye up the neighbours who have done just that.

Regional Council Priorities

It looks like the members of the regional council have lost their way after reading the subjects up for debate in the plan.

Unfortunately the emphasis has shifted from the environment to the expenditure on community projects which should not be on the agenda at all.
This is a result of a number of changes over the last few years, changes to legislation by the Labour Government and the presence of councillors who have no environmental knowledge at all.

The council has a wealth of information on water but lacks the ability to disseminate this info. The clamour for vast amounts to be spent on water issues is misplaced and the desire for more racist representation in regrettable.
What needs to be changed and quickly is the legislation that has allowed for the expansion of expenditure into areas that should be in no way a regional council function.
Mr Hyde will most likely destroy regional councils before correcting the problems Labour created.

The changes to HB Inc are regrettable and to think they could be funding areas such as rugby fixtures is just appalling.

HB Inc should be done away with forthwith.
