The Hastings District Council along with the Hastings Sports Trust has been left to raise millions of dollars for a sports park that will never pay its way.

Sometimes councillors lose site of balance and get carried away with ideas that may make them look good for the next election.
Soon Hastings Councillors will have to accept they have no show of raising $40 million and it is no use leaving ratepayers with a bigger noose around their neck   than they have now.

It is time to admit to a botch up.

The latest attempt at damage control by the Regional Council Chair only digs a deeper hole.

Mr Dick and Crs McGregor,Kirton.Remmerswal,Gilbertson and Von dadelson , have all decided to go for the money and try and get kudos for spending ratepayers money that is not theirs to spend.

Mr Dick and his team clearly indicated they wanted to sell the port down to 51% and now they are trying to back out of the cul-de-sac. It won’t work.

The position confirms the shallow thinking that saw the electricity assets sold off when Mr Dick was Mayor of Napier.
People have short memories and unfortunately Mr Dick appears to have similar shallow thinking councillors backing his stance.
You said you would sell the port down Mr Dick. That is a fact.
