Silly Super City
TV 1 & 3 report that tomorrow ,Tuesday 7th April the Government will announce that Auckland will get a super council with one Mayor.
This is taking the local out of Local Government and will be a disaster for Auckland and New Zealand.
John Keys’ explanation that the Commission was experienced and spent time while considering 3000 submissions is a pathetic summary of this theoretical crap that is supposed to deliver savings for Auckland ratepayers.
Meerkat bets right now that there will be NO savings at all. None.
There will be a raft of overpaid staff and overzealous councillors that will deliver a nightmare to Aucklanders.
It is a case where Commissions formed to look at such issues need down to earth Kiwis among the team to inject reality into decision making.
People who are out of touch with everyday Kiwis do not possess the all round skills needed to make such important judgements.
Lets hope this folly is not repeated elsewhere.
