Smack for Key

After an overwhelming no vote for the smacking referendum John Key is showing he has little respect for kiwis who have sent a resounding message to politicians that they do not want these show ponys to dictate to the people.

The whole idea of a conscience vote needs to be dumped. There is no place for this parliament to foist personal agendas on the whole populace.

Key needs to change the legislation full stop.

New Zealanders have made there point. Now act!!!!!!!

Mayors Launch

The President of Hawkes Bay …..oops Mayor of Hastings, has released with his new pitch for a unitary, an outline of a model for him to rule……oops be Mayor of.

With such a busy schedule one wonders how he has time to come up with such documents. mmmmmm.

Maybe it has something to do with the PR people payed for by the ratepayer that are really working for the Mayor.

Surely ratepayers need some clarification of this setup and who is doing what for whom?

Superman Mayor

The Hastings Mayor has been inflicted with the super disease started by Rodney Hide.

It has always been in the Local Government Act that the ratepayers can make moves to cause a re-organsiation of local authorities.

We now have a Mayor who thinks he is more than a figurehead but is a Super Mayor. It is not up to a Mayor to call a press conference and announce he is to push for an amalgamation of which the outcome he believes he will lead.

The Mayor has found some boots that are too big for him and it is time the region found someone to make him take stock of his postion.

Next week we see the Mayor annoucing he is going for Prime Minister.

Contaminated Connections

The HB Regional Council has been forced to expose the extent of contaminated sites to be found in Hawkes Bay.

It is all very well to call for transparency on this one but there will now be a multitude of problems arising from this list of historical site activity.

Too many people out there will conjure up a picture of nasty, terrible substances that will be making people sick all around the region.Fear to the max.

It is probably safe to assume nearly every property is a contaminated site and some in the city may be the worst. There is an unreasonable assumption from fanatics that we are all in terrible danger.

Methinks Mr Sharpe and the Dominion have done an injustice.

Emissions Target

The Government announced a target for cutting carbon emissions today which will supposedly  cost each taxpayer $30 a week.

The National Government has been sucked in big time and Nick Smith is a major disappointment . New Zealand is a pimple on the planet and any suggestion that we as a nation are causing climate problems is a major joke.

Nature rules.

Bunnings Beaten

The recent application by Bunnings to establish a new outlet on prime land on the outskirts of Hastings, has been declined.

The Commissioners that heard the application found that it was against the objectives and policies of the Hastings District Plan.

It is such a shame that the same issues were not considered so important when it involved the council itself taking a much larger slice of the Plains pie at the expense of the same soils.
